Questions teachers ask
- What is the Australian Curriculum Version 9.0?
- It is the national curriculum from Foundation to Year 10, published by ACARA. It sets out what students should learn in eight learning areas, as content descriptions and achievement standards, plus general capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities.
- What are content descriptions?
- Content descriptions say what teachers are expected to teach in each learning area and year or band of years. Each one has a code, such as AC9M5N01 for a Year 5 Mathematics number description.
- Does Heapso plan for the Australian Curriculum?
- Yes. Set your curriculum to Australia, pick a year level and learning area, and add the content descriptions you're teaching. Pip only cites the codes you choose and writes in Australian English.
- What about Years 11 and 12?
- Senior secondary is run by each state and territory: the HSC in NSW, the VCE in Victoria, the QCE in Queensland, the WACE in WA and the SACE in South Australia and the Northern Territory. Heapso has course and unit references for these, linked to the official syllabuses and study designs.
