Use Heapso in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini

Connect Heapso to the AI app you already use. It can find your plans, draft new ones in Heapso's format, and save them to your account once you've checked them.

What your AI can do with Heapso

  • Search your Heapso lessons, units, worksheets, slide decks and week planners
  • Open a plan and summarise it, adapt it or check it against your notes
  • Draft a new plan in Heapso's format and save it to your account once you've checked it
  • Update a plan after you've approved the change (earlier versions are kept)
  • Read the class timetable you've imported into Heapso
  • Look up NCEA achievement and unit standards by subject, level, credits and internal or external assessment, with links to NZQA
  • Turn an NCEA standard into a unit, lesson or revision worksheet and save it to Heapso
  • Check the learning areas, strands and phases of Te Mātaiaho, the New Zealand Curriculum, with links to Tāhūrangi

What it can't do

  • Delete plans, or share or publish them
  • See billing, school administration or student records
  • See anything in your AI app that you haven't sent it

Your AI app writes the drafts, so saving them doesn't use Heapso credits. You can save up to 100 plans a day this way.

Connect your AI

You'll need a Heapso account. When your AI app asks you to sign in, Heapso shows exactly which app is asking and what it can do. Choose Allow to finish.

Your connection address

https://heapso.com/api/ai/mcp

AI apps may call this an MCP server URL, a remote MCP server or a custom connector.

Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector, name it Heapso and paste the connection address.
  3. Choose Connect, sign in to Heapso and allow access.

Works in Claude on the web, Claude Desktop and Claude Code. Custom connectors aren't on every Claude plan.

ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT settings, add a custom MCP server or app (the name depends on your plan).
  2. Paste the connection address and choose OAuth if it asks how to sign in.
  3. Sign in to Heapso and allow access.

Custom connections aren't available on every ChatGPT plan or workspace.

Gemini CLI

  1. Add Heapso to ~/.gemini/settings.json: "mcpServers": { "heapso": { "httpUrl": "https://heapso.com/api/ai/mcp" } }
  2. In Gemini, run /mcp auth heapso.
  3. Sign in to Heapso in the browser window that opens and allow access.

Things to ask

  • "Find my Year 6 fractions lessons in Heapso."
  • "Draft a 50-minute Year 9 science lesson on states of matter, show me, then save it to Heapso."
  • "Open my water cycle unit and add a formative assessment in week 1."
  • "Use my Heapso timetable to plan next week's lessons for 10SCI."
  • "Which Level 1 maths achievement standards are internally assessed? Use Heapso."
  • "Plan a 6-week unit building up to AS91944 and save it to Heapso when I approve it."

Your data and control

Your AI app only sees what Heapso sends back when it searches or opens your plans. Plans it saves are private to you until you share them in Heapso.

Connections last up to 90 days. You can disconnect an app at any time in Your AI connections. Keep student names and personal details out of what you ask.

Read our privacy statement and terms. Your AI app's own terms and privacy policy apply to what you type into it.

Common questions

Does connecting my AI cost anything?
No. Connecting works on every Heapso plan, and saving plans from your AI doesn't use credits.
It says the connection link isn't valid
The link was incomplete, expired or came from an app Heapso doesn't recognise. Start the connection again from your AI app. Only approve connections you started yourself.
My AI says the plan has changed
Someone (or you, in another tab) edited the plan after your AI opened it. Ask your AI to open the plan again and show you the change before it saves.
Where do the NCEA standards come from?
Heapso keeps each standard's code, title, level, credits and assessment type, checked against NZQA, and links to the standard on NZQA's website. Read the full standard and its assessment conditions there. Heapso isn't part of NZQA, and it doesn't list every standard yet.
Can students use this?
No. Heapso is for teachers. Connect it to your own AI account, and keep student names and details out of your plans and prompts.
How do I disconnect?
Go to Your AI connections and choose Disconnect. You can also remove Heapso in your AI app's settings.
