Placement lesson plan template

A one-lesson plan in the shape most NZ initial teacher education providers ask for on practicum. Print it, fill it in on screen, or give it to your associate teacher before you teach.

How to use it

  • Write learning intentions as "We are learning to…" and success criteria as "I can…" so ākonga can check their own progress.
  • Link only the Standards this lesson gives real evidence for. Two or three strong links beat six thin ones.
  • Put minutes on every step. If the times add up to more than the lesson, cut before you teach, not during.
  • Fill in the reflection the same day while you still remember what ākonga said and did.

  3. Curriculum links
  4. Standards for the Teaching Profession
